I love traveling ever since I can remember. Growing up with parents who are too frugal to spend money on travel, I took my sister and brothers on trips whenever I saved enough money to get us on the road.
Traveling is so much more than just taking in the beautiful scenery, exploring the local culture, treating yourself to delicious flavors of the world, or checking the monumental spots off your bucket list. It’s an education rich in history and architecture that you’ll never get from text books or photos. For these and many more reasons, my husband and I have taken our boys on many cruises, several trips to various parts of US, Europe, Africa, Caribbean, and Mexico. They are already on their second passport while many adults have never even applied for one. They have been in the narrow passage ways of the Alaska glaciers, rode the London Eye, viewed Paris from the top of the Eiffel tower, kicked the sand at the foot of the Sphinx in Cairo while being chased by gypsies, amazed at Gaudi’s gothic buildings in Barcelona, loved the military museums in the Azores, dozens of monkey snatched food from their hands at top of The Rock (of Gibraltar), made mom and dad kiss while walking the streets of Malta, and vowed never to return to Rome because the McDonald’s bathroom near the Coloseum was too dirty! This is just a short list of world famous landmarks they have already been to. And soon we’ll explore New England, Eastern coastal towns of Canada, New York, and DC.
